Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to the most common questions about shopping, selling, orders, payments, and your account on Afrimarts.

Buying on Afrimarts

No — you can browse all products and vendor stores without creating an account. However, you will need to register and log in to add items to your cart, place orders, leave reviews, or contact sellers.

On the product detail page, select your preferred colour and/or size (if the product has variations), choose a quantity, and click Add to Cart. If the seller uses chat-first ordering, you will see a Chat with Seller button instead — send them a message to confirm availability, and the seller will create an order for you.

Some vendors prefer to confirm a product's availability before accepting payment. When you click Chat with Seller, a message box opens pre-filled with "Hello, is [product name] still available?" — you can edit the message before sending. Once the seller confirms and creates the order, it will appear in your My Orders page where you can complete payment.

Yes. Your cart can hold items from multiple vendors simultaneously. At checkout, the platform splits your order into separate vendor sub-orders automatically. Shipping fees are calculated per vendor based on the value of their items in your cart.

Products display an In Stock or Out of Stock badge. When stock is running low, a Low Stock warning appears. If a product is out of stock you cannot add it to your cart, but you can still contact the seller to ask when it will be restocked.

Click the heart icon (♥) on any product card or product detail page to add it to your Wishlist. Access your wishlist from your profile to review saved items at any time. You can remove items from the wishlist by clicking the heart icon again.

Yes. After purchasing and receiving a product, navigate to its product page and scroll to the Reviews tab. You can submit a star rating (1–5) and a written review. Reviews from confirmed purchases are marked with a Verified Purchase badge. You can edit or delete your review at any time.

Payments

Afrimarts currently accepts Mobile Money payments — both MTN Mobile Money (MoMo) and Orange Money. Payments are processed securely through CamPay. After confirming your order at checkout, you will be redirected to the CamPay payment page to complete the transaction on your phone.

Yes. All payments are processed by CamPay, a licensed payment processor. Afrimarts never stores your Mobile Money PIN or payment credentials. Your funds are held securely until the order is completed.

Payment is charged immediately when you authorise the transaction through Mobile Money at checkout. The seller does not receive the funds until the order is confirmed as delivered — they are held in a pending balance in the meantime, protecting you as a buyer.

If the CamPay payment link cannot be generated, or if your Mobile Money transaction fails, the order is not placed and no funds are deducted. You can return to your cart and try again. If you believe funds were deducted but the order did not go through, contact Afrimarts support immediately with your transaction reference number.

Refunds are issued when an order is cancelled before the item has been shipped, or when a valid return is approved. To request a refund:

  1. Contact the seller directly via the in-app messenger or from your order detail page.
  2. If the issue is not resolved, contact Afrimarts support.
  3. Approved refunds are processed back to your Mobile Money number within 7–10 business days.

Shipping is calculated as a percentage of each vendor's total in your cart. The current rate is displayed on the checkout page before you confirm payment. Each vendor's shipping fee is calculated separately, so your total shipping cost depends on how many vendors you are buying from and the value of each vendor's items.

Orders

Go to your profile and click Order History, or navigate to My Account → My Orders. Here you will find all past and current orders with their status, items, total, and tracking information.

  • Pending — Your order has been created but payment is not yet confirmed.
  • Processing — Payment confirmed. The seller is preparing your items.
  • Shipped — The seller has dispatched your order. It is on its way.
  • Delivered — You have confirmed receipt, or the platform auto-confirmed. The seller has been paid.
  • Cancelled — The order was cancelled. If you paid, a refund is in progress.

Once you have physically received your items, go to your order in My Orders and click Confirm Delivery. This releases the payment to the seller and marks the order as complete. Only confirm delivery once you have actually received the goods and are satisfied with them.

Orders can be cancelled while still in Pending or Processing status. Once the seller has marked the order as Shipped, cancellation is no longer possible. To request a cancellation, contact the seller directly through the messenger or reach out to Afrimarts support.

When a vendor creates an order on your behalf, you will receive an in-app notification. Go to My Account → My Orders, find the order, and click Pay Now. You will be taken through the standard Mobile Money payment flow.

From your order detail page, click Contact Seller. This opens a dedicated chat thread linked to your order so the seller has all the context they need. You can also go to My Messages and find the conversation there.

Shipping & Delivery

Delivery times vary by vendor and your location. Standard delivery within Cameroon typically takes 1–7 business days. Vendors serving remote areas may take longer. Check the vendor's store page or ask them directly via chat for a more accurate estimate before ordering.

Go to My Account → Addresses. Here you can add new addresses, edit existing ones, set a default address, and delete addresses you no longer need. Your saved addresses appear automatically at checkout.

Yes. At checkout there is a Delivery Instructions field where you can leave notes for the delivery team, such as "Leave at the gate", "Call before arrival", or "Handle with care — fragile." These instructions are visible to the seller and delivery person.

International shipping availability depends on the individual vendor. Some vendors ship internationally; others only deliver within Cameroon. Check the product page or contact the seller directly to confirm whether they can ship to your country.

Returns & Refunds

The standard Afrimarts return policy allows returns within 30 days of delivery for defective or significantly misrepresented items. Items must be in their original packaging. Customised or personalised items are generally non-returnable. Individual vendors may have stricter or more lenient policies — check the Shipping & Returns tab on the product page.

If the item is defective or was not as described, the seller covers return shipping. If you changed your mind or ordered the wrong size, return shipping is the buyer's responsibility. Always discuss returns with the seller first through the in-app chat before sending anything back.

Once a return or cancellation is approved, refunds are processed within 7–10 business days back to your Mobile Money number. If you have not received your refund after 10 business days, contact Afrimarts support with your order number.

Selling on Afrimarts

Create a buyer account first, then go to Dashboard → Vendor Application. Fill in your store name, description, city, and region. Upload a logo and submit. Our team reviews applications within 24–48 hours. See the full Seller Guide for step-by-step instructions.

Joining and listing products is free. Afrimarts charges a platform fee on withdrawals — a percentage is deducted when you transfer your earnings to your Mobile Money account. The current fee rate is displayed on your analytics page before you confirm any withdrawal.

Direct Ordering: Customers can add products to their cart and pay immediately. You must keep stock quantities accurate to prevent orders for unavailable items.

Chat-First Ordering: The Add to Cart button is hidden. Customers send you a message first; you confirm availability and then create the order yourself. This gives you full control and is ideal when your stock changes frequently.

You can change your order mode at any time from your vendor profile settings.

Buyer payments are held in a pending balance while the order is in transit. Funds are released to your vendor wallet once the buyer confirms delivery. You can then withdraw to your Mobile Money number at any time from the Analytics page.

Yes. Go to Dashboard → Team and send email invitations to team members. You can assign them pre-built roles (Store Manager, Product Manager, Order Fulfiller) or customise individual permissions. Team members never have access to your wallet or financial details unless explicitly granted.

Go to Dashboard → Create Order and enter the customer's email address. Alternatively, open a chat conversation with the customer and click the Create Order button — the customer's email is pre-filled automatically. You can then select products, set shipping, and add a note before sending the order to the customer for payment.

Products (Sellers)

No. Each product name must be unique within your store. If you sell the same item in different configurations (colours, sizes, storage capacities), use the Variations system rather than creating separate products. This keeps your store clean and your inventory easier to manage.

After creating the product with its variations, go to Products → Update Product. Each size/colour combination is listed as a separate row. Enter the sale price, cost price, and available quantity for each row individually.

In the Add Product or Edit Product form, find the YouTube Video section. Paste any YouTube URL (watch link or youtu.be short link). A live preview appears immediately. The video will be embedded in the Description tab on the product page. Leave the field blank to remove the video.

Every product must be assigned one of the following conditions: New, Used, Refurbished, Open Box, or For Parts / Not Working. This information is displayed to buyers on the product page so they know exactly what they are purchasing.

There is no hard limit on gallery images. Each image must be PNG, JPG, or WEBP format, max 2 MB. The first gallery image is displayed as the main image on the product detail page. You can remove existing gallery images by checking the checkbox on the image in the Edit Product form.

Account & Profile

Go to My Account → Profile. You can update your name, phone number, and profile photo. To change your email address or password, use the corresponding options in the account settings.

On the login page, click Forgot Password?. Enter your email address and click Send. You will receive a password reset link via email. Click the link and set a new password. The link expires after a short period so use it promptly.

Afrimarts sends in-app notifications for order updates, new messages, delivery confirmations, and team invitations. You can view all notifications in My Account → Notifications. Email notifications are sent for the most important events (new orders, payment confirmations, invitations).

Yes — in fact, this is how it works. Every seller account on Afrimarts is built on top of a buyer account. You register as a buyer first, then apply to become a vendor. You can shop as a buyer and manage your store as a vendor, all from the same account and login.

You can reach the Afrimarts support team by sending a message through the platform's contact form, emailing support@afrimarts.com, or chatting with us directly on the platform. For urgent order issues, include your order number in your message so we can assist you faster.
